Non-Invasive · Medication-Free · Outpatient Depression Treatment Serving Williamson & Davidson Counties
TMS of Tennessee operates two Brentwood locations to serve Middle Tennessee residents: our Main Clinic at 205 Powell Pl, Suite 216 (near Maryland Farms) and our second location at 1616 Westgate Cir, Suites 129-130 (close to the Westgate professional complex). Both clinics deliver NeuroStar Advanced TMS Therapy for patients whose depression has not responded to medications, serving Brentwood, Nashville, Franklin, and the wider Middle Tennessee area.
This non-invasive TMS treatment uses evidence-based protocols where focused magnetic pulses target the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex. Because it requires no sedation, there are no systemic side effects or recovery time needed. In addition to our standard sessions, TMS of Tennessee now offers accelerated TMS, allowing you to complete your treatment plan on a much faster schedule. Sessions range from 3 to 19 minutes depending on your specific protocol, you can drive yourself home immediately afterward, and we will fully verify your TMS insurance coverage before your first appointment.

These are actual patients from Williamson and Davidson counties who came to TMS of Tennessee after antidepressants fell short.
Brentwood, TN 37027
Treatment-resistant depression, anxious depression
“I tried four different medications over three years. Each one either didn’t work or left me feeling flat and exhausted. TMS at this Brentwood clinic changed that. The staff at 205 Powell Pl knows me by name, the parking is free and easy, and by week four I felt like my old self again. No exaggeration.”
Nashville, TN 37212
Major depressive disorder, OCD
“I was skeptical about TMS therapy Brentwood because nothing else had helped. The team here explained every step—motor threshold mapping, theta burst iTBS protocol, what the tapping sensation would feel like. By session 15, my obsessive loop quieted down for the first time in a decade. I drive from Nashville twice a week now for maintenance.”
Franklin, TN 37064
Bipolar depression, TRD
“The Maryland Farms area is busy, but this TMS center is tucked into Powell Pl with actual free parking. More importantly: my psychiatrist at TMS of Tennessee coordinated with my medication regimen. They didn’t force me to change anything. They just added TMS, and the fog lifted. I wish I had done this years ago.”
NeuroStar Advanced TMS Therapy uses repetitive magnetic pulses—similar in strength to an MRI but focused and rhythmic—to reactivate underperforming neurons in the left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex. No anesthesia. No recovery. No new pill side effects.
Your first Brentwood TMS appointment includes three things: a clinical evaluation to confirm TMS candidacy, a complete insurance coverage review (including TMS financing options if applicable), and motor threshold calibration. We locate the exact spot on your scalp that corresponds to your mood-regulating circuit. You leave knowing whether TMS is right for you and what your out-of-pocket TMS cost will be.
We use either standard rTMS or theta burst stimulation (iTBS) based on your specific diagnosis—depression, OCD, or anxious depression. The protocol is mapped to your brain’s anatomy, not a template. Your TMS specialists document the placement coordinates so every session is identical and precise.
You come to 205 Powell Pl five days per week for approximately 4–6 weeks. Each session lasts 18–40 minutes depending on the protocol. You sit in a reclining chair, the magnetic coil gently taps against your left forehead area, and you stay fully awake. When the machine stops, you walk to your car and drive to work, errands, or home. No grogginess. Most patients report measurable improvement by session 10–12.
The FDA has cleared TMS for major depressive disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder. Our TMS doctors also apply it to related conditions based on clinical evidence and peer-reviewed protocols.
When MDD resists two or more antidepressants, TMS offers a non-systemic alternative. Instead of altering your entire body’s chemistry, magnetic pulses directly modulate the neural circuits that govern mood, sleep, appetite, and motivation. For Brentwood professionals and families alike, this means no weight gain, no sexual side effects, and no emotional blunting.
TRD is the formal diagnosis when you have tried at least two adequate antidepressant trials and still experience significant symptoms. Most TMS insurance plans specifically cover TRD. Our TMS providers work with your insurance to secure prior authorization before your first treatment.
Since 2018, the FDA has approved TMS for OCD. The targeting differs slightly—deeper into the anterior cingulate cortex—but the mechanism remains the same: magnetic pulses interrupt repetitive thought loops. Many Brentwood patients with co-occurring depression and OCD find that TMS addresses both simultaneously
Approximately 50% of people with depression also meet criteria for an anxiety disorder. TMS has been shown in multiple trials to reduce both symptom clusters because the prefrontal cortex regulates fear extinction and emotional reactivity. You don’t have to choose which to treat first.
TMS for bipolar depression requires careful screening to avoid manic switch. Our TMS specialists follow published safety protocols from UT Southwestern and the National Network of Depression Centers. We only proceed when the evidence supports benefit over risk for your specific bipolar subtype.
Accelerated TMS protocols and traditional rTMS have emerging evidence for post-traumatic stress disorder. Our clinic also supports patients using TMS as part of a multidisciplinary plan that includes therapy and medication management.
Our two Brentwood clinics were built to eliminate the friction that usually comes with starting a new depression treatment.

Not typically. Most patients schedule their free TMS evaluation directly with our clinic. Some insurance plans may require a referral for coverage; we check this during your intake and let you know within 24 hours.
Yes. TMS is designed to work alongside medication. Many Brentwood patients continue their existing prescriptions during the 4- to 6-week protocol. Your TMS doctor will coordinate with your prescribing provider if needed.
Most people describe the sensation as a rhythmic tapping or light knocking on the side of the forehead. The first session (motor threshold mapping) involves stronger pulses to find your ideal intensity. After that, routine TMS sessions are generally well tolerated. A small percentage of patients experience mild scalp discomfort, which usually resolves by week two.
Missing one session is not a major problem. We reschedule you. Missing multiple sessions in a row can reduce TMS success rates, so we work with your calendar to find consistent make-up times.
Many patients experience relief for 6 to 12 months or longer after their initial TMS series. Some choose periodic maintenance sessions (once every 2–4 weeks) if symptoms gradually return. We track your progress and offer a TMS follow-up plan tailored to you.
Yes. Medicare covers TMS for treatment-resistant depression. TMS of Tennessee accepts Medicare and completes all necessary documentation. Your TMS coverage under Medicare is verified before you start.
While FDA clearance is primarily for MDD and OCD, substantial clinical evidence supports TMS for anxious depression and PTSD. Our TMS specialists review your specific case during the consultation and recommend only evidence-aligned protocols.
Both locations offer the same NeuroStar TMS therapy, same insurance verification process, and same clinical team. Choose Powell Place if you are closer to Maryland Farms. Choose Westgate Circle if you are closer to the Westgate professional complex.
